Nepali American Business Summit in NY Postponed to November Due to Devastating Nepal Floods
Greater New York Nepali Chamber of Commerce President Pradip Shrestha announcing the programming for the Nepali American Business and Investment Summit (NABIS) during mid-August.
The Nepali American Business and Investment Summit has been rescheduled for Nov. 20–22 due to devastating floods and other natural disasters affecting communities across Nepal, organizers said. As of Sept. 4, more than 1,300 bodies have been recovered, and over 5,000 people remain missing.
The Greater New York Nepali Chamber of Commerce announced the change Sept. 3, moving the three-day event from its original Sept. 25–27 dates. The summit will still be held at the Marriott New York JFK Airport.
Chamber leaders said the decision followed consultations with the Nepali Consulate and key stakeholders, as the diaspora focuses on relief efforts.
“Our community’s attention right now is understandably with Nepal and those affected by this disaster,” Pradip Shrestha, president of the chamber, said in a statement. “Moving NABIS to November gives us the time to respond to this moment while continuing the work we started and bringing everyone together with greater focus and purpose.”
The summit will bring together entrepreneurs, investors, business leaders, policymakers, financial institutions, professionals, government representatives, startups, and members of the Nepali diaspora.
Organizers confirmed that planned programming—including a startup showcase, investment discussions, networking sessions, and business engagement programs—will proceed under the new schedule. Updated program and speaker details will be released in the coming weeks.
Existing registrations remain valid for November, and current registrants do not need to re-register. Those unable to attend the rescheduled dates may request a refund by emailing the summit team at [email protected].
The chamber apologized for any inconvenience to participants, speakers, partners, sponsors, and guests who had already made travel or scheduling arrangements for September.
